Spring is booked. Plan fall now.

Scheduled plant shutdown services across Southern Ontario
Plant Shutdown Services Southern Ontario

Most of the shutdowns we run land in two windows. Some plants take a summer slowdown when production drops in July and August. Others hold off until fall through Christmas, when food, packaging, and process lines slow down for line balance, equipment swaps, and end-of-year work. The fall and winter calendar is what we're filling now.

A planned shutdown beats a forced outage every time. You control the scope. Parts are on site before the line goes down. The right trades are on the floor in the right order, so millwrights aren't standing around waiting on electricians. You're not paying 2am overtime to chase a bearing that let go on a Sunday.

Bullet Trade Services delivers plant shutdown services across Southern Ontario including across Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Hamilton, London, Brantford, Brampton, Burlington, Mississauga, Oakville, and throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

How we run a shutdown

Planned right, executed clean.

Step 01

Scope walkthrough

We walk the facility and confirm equipment condition, access, and sequencing before mobilizing. No surprises on day one.

Step 02

Parts & fabrication

Parts list built early. Long-lead items on order. Custom fab moves to the shop so it's ready when the line goes down.

Step 03

Crew & coordination

Trade mix and shift coverage locked. Handoffs with OEM reps and your team agreed before anyone picks up a wrench.

Step 04

Restart & commissioning

We stay through commissioning to verify the line runs clean. Documentation and sign-offs handed off before we leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a scheduled plant shut-down?

A scheduled plant shut-down is a planned halt in production that allows manufacturers to perform maintenance, repairs, equipment upgrades, and inspections that cannot be completed while lines are running. Shutdowns are typically scheduled during seasonal slowdowns - summer, fall, or over the Christmas period - and require coordinated multi-trade crews working within a tight window to complete all work before the line restarts.

What trades do you bring to a shutdown?

Millwrights, electricians, welders, and pipe fitters. We coordinate trades on the same crew so handoffs happen on the floor, not through email. One contractor, one schedule, one invoice.

What industries do you serve?

Food and beverage processing, automotive, pulp and paper, packaging, plastics, chemicals, building products, and general manufacturing.

What areas of Ontario do you cover?

Headquartered in Puslinch. We cover Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, and the broader GTA. Province-wide for planned work.

How far in advance should we book a shutdown?

As early as possible. Fall and winter windows fill fast. The earlier we walk the scope, the more time we have to source parts, schedule fabrication, and lock in the right crew mix.

Do you handle multi-trade shutdowns?

Yes. We coordinate millwrights, electricians, welders, and pipe fitters on a single crew. One contractor, one schedule, one invoice. Handoffs happen on the floor, not through email chains.

What does a scope walk involve?

We walk your facility before mobilizing to confirm equipment condition, access requirements, and work sequencing. Parts lists get built from the walk. No surprises on day one.

How do you handle scope creep?

Scope creep kills shutdowns. We track scope tightly. Add-ons get flagged as they come up. Nothing outside the original plan proceeds without your approval.

Do you stay through commissioning?

Yes. We stay through restart and commissioning to verify the line runs clean. Documentation and sign-offs are handed off before we leave.

What mechanical work do you perform during shutdowns?

Bearings, shafts, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, alignments, rigging, equipment moves, and custom fabrication including guards, brackets, chutes, and frames.

What electrical work do you perform during shutdowns?

Panel work, motor swaps, controls, instrumentation, control wiring, and emergency electrical repairs. All work completed by qualified, safety-certified electricians.
